About Giselle
Giselle is an endorsed Counselling Psychologist and holds a Master of Psychology (Counselling Psychology). She has extensive experience working with diverse groups of people within both clinical and community settings, including veterans and their families, mature adults/adults, children and adolescents, refugees/people from non-English speaking backgrounds, and the LGBTIQA+ community. Giselle has worked within the Department of Veteran’s Affairs, not-for-profit organisations, schools, community clinics, the criminal justice system, and hospice/palliative settings.
Giselle’s areas of professional interest include Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), complex PTSD, and complex trauma, depression and anxiety, grief and loss, life adjustments and transitions, chronic health and chronic pain conditions, ADHD, and veteran/women’s/LGBTIQA+ mental health and wellbeing.
Giselle uses an integrative and evidence-based counselling approach, utilising therapeutic modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (MBCT), Compassion-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Existential Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Problem-Solving Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). Giselle is an Accredited Practitioner of EMDR with the EMDR Association of Australia (EMDRAA).
Giselle is trained in individual, family, and group counselling, including working with both children and adolescents. Giselle accepts referrals for children and family counselling for children aged 5 years old and up for behavioural concerns, and from age 18 months up for trauma and attachment-related issues.
Giselle has a holistic and client-empowered approach to assist clients in enacting lasting change within their lives.
